What is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reductio (MBSR)? Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week evidence based, live experiential program designed to provide participants with intense and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and embodied movement practices, including gentle stretching and mindful yoga.
Decades of research have documented MBSR's beneficial effects on physical and psychological well-being since its inception in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Pricing Context: The standard market rate for MBSR courses ranges from $300 for scholarship rates to upwards of $750. Many courses offered at present are online-only, without the overhead of a physical space. Our tiered rate structure for this in-person class reflects our commitment to making this course accessible to our community while also sustainable. The intention is to allow for generosity as well as individual circumstances. We encourage you to pay what you are able to afford and appreciate your thoughtfulness in the process.

Facilitated by Tosca Braun, licensed psychologist in RI, certified mindful self-compassion teacher, yoga therapist, and teacher of MBSR. This MBSR course is designed to be identity-inclusive and trauma-informed. The facilitator is a licensed psychologist, certified yoga therapist, and mindfulness and compassion teacher who trained at the Mindfulness Center at Brown as well as the Compassion Institute and the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. A devoted meditator, she is also a researcher of these practices and has worked closely on the evaluation of the MBSR2 program - a next-step training for MBSR graduates - with its developers at Brown University.
