Mimi has been teaching yoga since 2009. Throughout her career as a yoga teacher, she has prioritized accessibility and has worked to open up the practice of yoga to audiences that have felt excluded or marginalized in yoga spaces. This commitment stems from her own experience trying to find her way in yoga spaces as a larger bodied, queer person, living with chronic pain.
As a long-time social justice activist and organizer, she approaches her work with an anti-oppression and abolitionist lens. What this looks like in practice is a deep commitment to accessibility that applies to everything from offering sliding scale classes, language and cueing that is inclusive, and classes that are welcoming to bodies of all shapes, sizes, and mobility. Mimi's yoga practice and teaching are driven by a belief that individual healing and wellness is important and vital work that needs to accompany our work towards collective health and liberation.
