Kirtan is an ecstatic form of call–and–response chanting that comes from the bhakti, or devotional, tradition birthed in southern India in the 6th century. As potent as ever in our modern times, the bhakti practice of kirtan is an invocation, a praising, a glorifying, a beseeching, a calling from the soul to the Divine. Music is such a potent way of expressing emotion and connecting to the heart. As children of the earth in this time of humanity’s cries, may our hopes, dreams, and tears find solace and support as we call to the Highest, the Source of love and wisdom and compassion. We chant mantra that are powerful, beautiful, and also easy to follow. Let us come together as a community, chant and sing to our highest vision and essence, and collectively align and attune to Love.
